Abstract :

A THz metasurface is designed and proposed for early demand in biomedical technology, particularly in cancerous cells detection. The Two-dimensional slot array on a nonplanar gold film metasurface is presented to operate at THz frequency band. The nonplanar gold film is placed on a silica (SiO2) substrate and excited by a THz plane wave source from the bottom side. The outcomes by the CST finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) solver demonstrates the reflection coefficient of less than -13 dB at the center frequency of 4 THz, and achieves the realized gain of about 13 dBi at a 0.2 THz bandwidth. The resonance frequencies at the available bandwidth are related to the properties of the skin cell sample, and help to evaluate, and conclude the presence of cancerous cell.
