Abstract :
Given the rapid growth in the use of cloud services within organizations, the importance of monitoring and supervising the performance, security, and availability of these services has become increasingly evident. In this paper, we initially analyze and examine methods for extracting cloud service monitoring indicators, based on the needs and indicators set as inputs for a Cloud Services Monitoring Center. Various methods for extracting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of cloud services are reviewed, each with its own advantages, challenges, and specific applications. This paper introduces and compares these methods, discussing the strengths and weaknesses of each. Finally, based on specific needs, available resources, and operational objectives, we propose a hybrid approach for extracting monitoring indicators across different cloud service layers aimed at establishing a Cloud Services Monitoring Center. In this hybrid approach, for each layer, a specific extraction method is identified based on the designated key indicators. For the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) layer, methods based on network traffic, logs, and telemetry are selected; for the Platform as a Service (PaaS) layer, API-based, event-based, and AI-based methods are chosen; and for the Software as a Service (SaaS) layer, agent-based and container-based methods are identified.
